Design
Concept
This is one of a series of quilt made in my ongoing attempts at simplification. The Electric Ellipses quilts are based on a series of circles and rectangles in which the colors are juxtaposed to create maximum impact. The four fabrics in this quilt are from my Gradations collection for Benartex. The quilting was done in organic patterns, which make the circles look like part of a microscopic organism. The small circles are quilted with a pebbly pattern in the colors of the background fabrics, making the pebble shapes appear to float. A fifth fabric from the Gradations collection was used for the binding. |
