Hidden Influences is a collage of photographs and graphics designed in Corel Draw, my computer-drawing program. This is my second version of these images. The two faces float behind a field of rainbow colored checks. Hidden influences #1 had quarter inch checks, this quilt has sixteenth inch checks. This quilt was printed out in three 12" (30cm) wide sections using the custom setting on my Hewlett Packard DeskJet 1220C printer. The strips were then sewn together to form the complete image. The photo collage is surrounded by a border of Ombrè Strip fabric from the Benartex Glacier Park line, which is based on my own original hand painted fabric.

The photographs, of my great-grandmother and me were taken approximately 100 years apart. My father, who was born in 1901, still remembers his grandmother as the kindest person he ever met. Although I never met her, her influence can be felt through her picture and through my father's kind and gentle nature.
