This is an experiment with optical illusion. I found several classic, black and white optical illusions online and drew my own version in Corel Draw, then added color and value gradations. The fabric was printed by Spoonflower. I quilted the colored stripes in a spiraling pattern and meander quilted the background in shades of grey.
This is a companion piece to Color Drain #1, which is the same design with the colors and values reversed. The illusion can look as if all the colors are draining into a black hole, or all the colors are flowing out of the hole, kind of like the glass half full/glass half empty concept.
