Design Concept:

On a hot sunny day in early September of 2010 I went out to my herb garden and discovered the chives in full bloom with butterflies resting among the blossoms. I grabbed my camera and took the photograph that inspired this quilt design. The design was drawn first with pencil on copier paper then enlarged to 48" x 48" on freezer paper. The freezer paper was cut into shapes which became the templates for cutting the fabric. All of the fabrics in this quilt are from Caryl's various collections for Benartex.

This is my second butterfly quilt. The first, Lepidopteran #1 was made in 1994.
