Design Concept

This is the first in a series of quilts that are loosely based on the doodled designs that filled the margins of my school notebooks as a child growing up.

Scraps of hand dyed cotton fabric were layered over a base fabric then stitched over in a doodled design. By using a free motion sewing technique, the needle of my machine becomes a tool for drawing with thread.

This was the very first quilt in which I use free-motion stitching.
