Design Concept

This is one of a series of quilts in which three-dimensional, constructed tucks are pieced into a patterned background. The background fabric was painted by Mickie Lawler. The tucks are constructed from fabrics dyed in two different color gradations. The right sides were dyed in a gradation from green to raspberry, and the left sides are a value gradation of light to dark green.A radiating, string-pieced border draws the eye to the center of the quilt. The border is constructed of alternating strips of solid and patterned fabric.
