Design Concept

The design for this quilt was inspired by a 1984 trip to Rio de Janeiro, where all of the sidewalks are made from black and white stone mosaics in wild patterns. I distorted the patterns a bit in this quilt design. The fabrics are many shades of black and white. They were crazy pieced by machine onto paper patterns for the shapes. The paper was later removed. The quilting was done by machine with invisible thread.
