Design Concept

This is the first in a series of quilts in which I have combined texture with color gradations. The fabrics were hand-dyed in a 14 step gradation between black and white and a 19-step gradation from green to blue to purple to fuchsia. The background of the quilt is black through white, while two-color tucks are sewn into each seam. To create the illusion of movement across the surface of the quilt, the tucks were twisted and quilted in diagonal lines.
