The bubble has risen. Here is the new air-supported Paducah vendors pavillion next to the convention and expo center where the quilt show will be held this month. Click for a larger view.

The whole thing was still lying on the ground last Friday at 3:30 when I left for my dance lesson, and when I returned three hours later it was completely inflated. Amazing!!

The picture above was taken from the alley behind our building. During the show you will be able to walk or drive up the alley and come in our back door, less than a block from the pavilion. Monday - Friday 9am - 7pm and Saturday 9am - 6pm (April 19-24, 2010). Click here for larger image.

OK, so this doesn't look like much to anyone outside Paducah, but this is concrete being delivered to the site of the new Paducah city pavilion, which will house vendors during the big AQS Quilt Show in April.

By the way, this is NOT being built in the parking lot as some sources have reported. It is on a (formerly) grassy area outside the flood wall previously occupied by a hospital. You drove past it to get into the Executive Inn and probably never noticed it. There will still be plenty of parking.

This photo was taken from the balcony of the Bryerpatch Studio, less than a block away. Here's a new map showing the location.

Today I heard a strange noise at the back of my building and looked out to find bulldozers beginning to clear the vacant property just this side of the flood wall for the new city pavilion that will house many of the vendors during the April AQS show in Paducah.

If you have attended the AQS show in the past, you will recognize the Executive Inn in the background on the other side of the flood wall. It has been purchased by the city and will be torn down later this year. It will not be open for the 2010 show, but the newly renovated convention center and expo center will be housing the show as usual. The pavilion will provide much better space for the vendors who were in the pool area in past years.

This picture was taken from my second floor balcony. If you are coming to the show, please stop in at our shop and gallery. In this picture, you can see how close we are to the show.

Here are a few pictures from past shows.

Here is a map of all the quilt-related places you can walk to from the Convention Center
