60 minute - technique lecture
Caryl is well known for her freeform, organic
quilting designs. In this lecture she shares her secrets for
managing the quilt sandwich, controlling the stitches, and her
techniques for developing designs. She will show many of her
own quilts, and will also include the work of several other
master machine quilters.
Subjects covered will include:
- How to manage a large quilt with a standard
sewing machine
- Needle and thread choice
- How to plan a quilting design after the
quilt top is completed
- Contemporary whole cloth designs
- How to avoid physical exhaustion and repeat
motion stress injuries when machine quilting
- Basting for machine quilting.
- How to make freehand filler designs that
look complex and are really easy
- Batting choice
A question and answer time after each lecture
is welcome.
Equipment Needed

with the addition of demonstration and interaction time with
the workshop participants.
