Make this 24" square wall hanging while learning Caryl's fast, easy and accurate method for piecing the curves in her quilts. You will also learn to piece flying geese in a curve, spiky things, and applique. In the two day class, Caryl will also demonstrate machine quilting. You will also learn about working with intersecting color gradations and creating shadows for extra drama in your designs.

This is recommended as a two day workshop. If necessary we can do it as a one day, however in one day, students will only have a chance to try a little of each technique, and will need to finish their projects at home.

With sufficient lead time, kits with the fabric recommended below can be provided upon request.

From the Glacier Park Collection from Benartex or similar:

  • Batting: 26" square or other portable "work wall" for pinning up your design while you work.
  • Sewing Machine: One that is friendly and well adjusted. You must know how to operate your sewing machine. Your machine MUST HAVE ZIGZAG. Bring the following feet if you have them. (Bernina #20 open toed embroidery foot, #10 edge foot, #24 open toed darning foot, walking foot)
  • Heavy duty Extension Cord with two outlets. Three prong adaptor if needed for classroom outlets

    • White quilt marking pencil. Sanford Verithin or white charcoal are recommended.
  • Small watercolor brush or cotton swab.
  • Spray Starch or small container of other liquid starch.  You will not need much.  You can just spray some starch into a hotel size shampoo bottle, film cartridge, or other tight container.
