Design Concept
The patterns in this quilt were inspired by microscopic
photos of natural objects showing repeat patterns at the
cellular level. The design began with simple curved shapes
in muted fabric from my "Gradations" collection
from Benartex, separated by slices of light green patterned
fabric from my "Multi-Tye-Dye" collection. |
Original line drawing and color study for the background
in Corel Draw. |

|
|
After the background was pieced, paper-backed fusible
web was overlaid, and the shapes were drawn by hand
with pencil. The petal like feathers were cut from two
lighter, brighter fabrics from the "Gradations"
collection. The quilting extends beyond the shapes in
hair-like patterns. |
